Carter's Story

Carter was born with a life-threatening heart condition called Tetralogy of Fallot. He underwent his first surgery at only six days old. A few months later, Carter underwent complete heart surgery to repair his many congenital heart defects.

Then in 2020, the toddler developed endocarditis, an inflammation of the tissue cells that line the heart’s surface. He was so sick that he needed cardiac infusions, strong antibiotics and ultimately three major heart operations. Lurie Children’s cardiac team worked tirelessly to get little Carter back to health.

Thanks to the support of caring friends like you, Carter is now a happy six-year-old filled with boundless energy, curiosity and imagination.
