$1 Million for Childhood Cancer Awareness Month

Children facing a cancer diagnosis don’t have the luxury of time. They are counting on us to find a cure, improve treatments, and give them the promise of a healthier future. Too often, progress is delayed and lifesaving treatments never make it to the children who need them most—simply because pediatric cancer research doesn't receive the funding it deserves. With only 4% of federal cancer research dollars allocated to childhood cancer, breakthroughs depend on the generosity of people like you.

September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, and your support this month can help advance promising treatments, fuel life-saving research, and give families the support they need to not only survive a cancer diagnosis but thrive.

If we want to change what’s possible for children battling cancer—the time is now.

Give Now

Thanks to a generous donor, your gift will DOUBLE in impact until September 30, 2025.

The Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders at Lurie Children's treats approximately 220 new patients each year—more children with cancer and blood disorders than any other hospital in Illinois. Each of these kids deserves to survive their cancer diagnosis and treatment and thrive in their lives after cancer.

Your gift this month can:

  • Advance promising research projects
  • Expand access to clinical trials and proactive screening
  • Reduce disparities in care by eliminating barriers to treatment
  • Support families every step of the way with kid-centered support services

With more funding, more awareness, and more action, we can turn “there’s nothing more we can do” into “here’s what we’ll try next.” When you give before September 30, your gift will double in impact!

DOUBLE MY IMPACT

Megan's Final Wish and a Legacy of Compassion

Megan was a vibrant, determined teenager who faced her brain tumor with incredible courage — enduring surgeries, chemotherapy, and clinical trials in search of a breakthrough. But despite receiving the best possible care at Lurie Children’s, Megan eventually ran out of options. Her final wish was to share her story and inspire support so other kids would have more hope, more time, and more chances.

Megan’s legacy reminds us of what’s at stake: too many children still face limited treatments and heartbreaking outcomes, while promising research waits for funding.

Give for Megan

Your gift can help change that — advancing the discoveries Megan dreamed of and giving more kids the future they deserve.

New Treatments Help Rewrite Ella's Future

When Ella was diagnosed with a rare, aggressive form of leukemia as a baby, her chances of survival were less than 20 percent. But thanks to innovative research, expert care, and a highly personalized transplant designed for her genetic makeup, Ella’s treatment at Lurie Children’s was a success. She is currently the longest known survivor of her leukemia subtype. Ella’s story shows what’s possible when philanthropy powers research and care.

Give for Ella

Together, we can make more stories like Ella’s possible, bringing safer, more effective treatments and healthier futures to kids who need them most.
