The Gift of a Brighter Future for Marshall

Born with only half of his heart developed, Marshall has received expert, specialized care at Lurie Children’s Heart Center, one of the top-ranked pediatric cardiology programs in the nation, for his entire life. In the spring of 2024, Marshall’s health took a drastic turn, and he was admitted to Lurie Children’s for around-the-clock monitoring. He lived at the hospital for nine months while waiting for a heart transplant. During that time, Family Services programs helped him stay positive and engaged, even while he missed celebrating holidays and milestones at home.

“It’s important to get kids better, but also to make sure that they’re enjoying the journey, and that is something about Lurie Children’s that I find so special. Children are truly loved here.” — Jessica, Marshall’s mom.

In early 2025, Marshall received his new heart and made a strong recovery. Today, Marshall is enjoying the childhood he deserves, thanks in part to the generosity of donors like you.
